There has been no shortage of controversy and hair-raising incidents from the 8th National Assembly of Nigeria, but nothing breaks the heart more than the name-them-shame-them letter that has been sent to the Speaker of the House of Representatives by the US Ambassador in which he accused three Nigerian lawmakers of sexual misconduct during an April 7-13, 2016 participation in the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP).         The three lawmakers are Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC, Bauchi), Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and Mark Terseer Gbillah (APC, Benue).  In his letter to the Speaker, James Entwistle says Gbillah and Ikon “allegedly requested hotel parking attendants to assist them to solicit prostitutes” while Gololo “allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in his hotel room and solicited her for sex”. This was reported to the hotel management. The use of the word “grabbed” sounds quite deliberate in its Nigerian-ness....

A nursing mother was seriously injured and her baby crushed to death on Wednesday, June 15, after they were struck by a commercial bus along Makurdi-Gboko expressway, Benue over N150 change. According to the child's father, Senator Anuum, his wife had boarded the vehicle with their baby strapped to her back, from the second gate of the Benue State University (BSU) to Coca-Cola junction. When she got to her destination, she gave the bus conductor a N200 note. She was supposed to be given a balance of N150 but the conductor refused. 36 year old Onyekachi Anele pictured above, has been arrested by the Imo state police command for allegedly slapping his wife, 32 year old Chikodi, to her death at their home in Obibiezena in Owerri North Lo­cal Government Area on June 1st. According to  The Sun , the late woman who had three children, two with Anele and one before they met, on the day of the incident, accosted Anele as he returned from a vigil at his church and asked why he hadn't given his stepson N100 to school.  An angry Anele gave his wife a slap and she retaliated. Riot broke out at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo (RUGIPO) in Ondo state this morning after a police officer allegedly shot dead two students of the institution. The Civilian JTF in Maiduguri, Borno state this morning shot dead two male suicide bombers who attempted to attack a mosque at Kusari area near CBN Staff Quarters in Maiduguri. According to Sahara Reporters, the suicide bombers attempted to strike the mosque after many Muslim faithfuls converged there for their early morning prayers. They were heading to a mosque to detonate the bombs strapped on them when they were stopped by some members of the state vigilante group. They were gunned down after they tried to escape while they were being questioned. Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has made a very shocking decision about the future of the assistant of former manager, Louis Van Gaal, Ryan Giggs. According to The Times UK, Giggs will not remain at Manchester United under Mourinho because the manager is worried he could be a future rival for the Old Trafford post.
